MANCHESTER UNITED legend Peter Schmeichel has caused a stir on social media after mocking Liverpool’s defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Schmeichel rapidly tweeted a crying emoji followed with “……not!” as he failed to hide his pleasure that Liverpool were out.
A first half goal from Georginio Wijnaldum took the tie to extra time and Liverpool thought they’d snatched the win after Roberto Firmino made it 2-1 on aggregate.
But two goals from Marcos Llorente and a late one from Alvaro Morata saw the visitors put an end to Liverpool’s hopes.
Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian was criticised for his performance during last night’s defeat and the Spaniard was targeted with sick abuse and death threats.
Schmeichel won the treble with United in 1999 and last night’s result means Klopp’s side can only win the Premier League this season.
The Dane and his teammates clinched the treble with a dramatic 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League final the Nou Camp.
Current United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer grabbed the winner late into added time in the second half to complete the impressive feat.
Liverpool were on course to challenge for the treble but a mini slump in form, including four defeats in their last six games in all competitions, saw the club beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the FA Cup and defeated by Atletico last night.
Klopp’s side are on course to secure their first league title in 30 years as they sit 25 points clear of Manchester City in second.
Reds fans who are desperate to see their side clinch the title could be left disappointed as, according to reports, governing bodies are set to force clubs to play behind closed doors amid the global health crisis.
The bug has disrupted various sporting events with Italy being hit hard by the outbreak and having to suspend Serie A as a result.
