Millwall eye non-league winger Myles Hippolyte to boost shock Premier League promotion bid

MILLWALL are looking at non-league winger Myles Hippolyte as they look to strengthen their shock bid for promotion to the Premier League.

Gary Rowett’s side have moved to within one point of the Championship play-off places after just one defeat in two months.

That has left the Lions looking to see if they can bring in a couple of new faces in January – with Yeovil star Hippolyte a player in their sights.

The 25-year-old Londoner, who came through the ranks at Brentford before spells in Scotland, is regarded as one of the best players in the National League and has been watched by a number of clubs.

Middlesbrough and Birmingham have also checked him out over the last month but it is Millwall who have shown the strongest interest.

VERSATILE STAR

The Lions know they need to strengthen their options with an unlikely push for promotion now on the cards, but lack the resources of most of their rivals in the Championship.

Boss Rowett has received favourable reports about six-footer Hippolyte, who has scored five goals this season but is also versatile enough to play in any position down the left.

Yeovil are desperate not to sell their best player as they fight Barrow for promotion back to the EFL, but know it would be hard to turn down a bid from a Championship club.

Hippolyte arrived at newly-relegated Yeovil last May following spells with Dunfermline, St Mirren, Falkirk and Livingston.

Before that he was with non-league sides Southall, Tamowrth, Hayes Yeading and and Burnham.
