But all is well again after it was revealed the Beeb will show three football shows this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Football Focus will run from noon on Saturday with Dan Walker introducing some of the best interviews from the season so far.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Juan Mata, Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling will all feature on screen before the MOTD team select their team of the season so far.

At 4pm, Guy Mowbray will front part one of an FA Cup quarter-final classics series.

Watford v Arsenal in 1987 and West Brom vs Nottingham Forest from 1978 will be the focus of Saturday’s instalment.

Everton vs Ipswich in 1985, Derby vs Sheffield Wednesday in 1983 and 2008’s epic between Manchester United and Portsmouth make up part two on Sunday at 4:40pm.

And luckily for fans desperate for their football fix, the hat-trick of football shows is complete on Saturday night.

Regular face of the show Gary Lineker returns alongside SunSport columnist Alan Shearer and Ian Wright for a video edition of the Match of the Day podcast where the trio will debate the Premier League’s greatest ever captain.

When the slot was originally filled by comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys, fans online were quick to react to the decision.

One wrote: “Mrs Browns Boys is replacing Match of the Day on Saturday.  It is truly the End of Days.”

And another added: “You know when we thought Mrs Browns Boys Live replacing Match Of The Day was the worst thing the BBC had ever done…life moves fast.”
