SATURDAYS without football are not all that fun.
That is the lesson learned by thousands across the country today as the coronavirus outbreak sees the first football free weekend since the Premier League was suspended on Thursday.
In the absence of sport, some fans “hilariously” claim to have discovered their partners no longer work at Woolworths or Blockbuster.
While others reckon the blackout has got their housebound hubbies acting like bored children.
A few are even certain their loved one’s unusual weekend presence will definitely lead to divorce.
But luckily, for those desperate to get their footy fix, SunSport can reveal Saturday’s Pools results – according to Sportalys – if the games had gone ahead.
And our reporters took a light-hearted look at how those matches might have played out if the games had gone ahead.
ASTON VILLA vs CHELSEA – AWAY WIN
With Villa languishing in the relegation zone and desperate for confidence we fancy Olivier Giroud carried on his rich vein of form and bagged two goals either side of a Jorginho penalty in a resounding 3-0 win for the Blues.
Jack Grealish ran around wondering if Man Utd do shorts in kids sizes too.
BOURNEMOUTH vs CRYSTAL PALACE – SCORE DRAW
The Cherries ran Chelsea close in a 2-2 draw last time they played at the Vitality.
And we reckon this latest home score draw would have seen Jordan Ayew make it three goals in three games for Palace.
Before Callum Wilson’s late equaliser denied Roy Hodgson’s men their third consecutive 1-0 win in their race for the top ten.
No one was particularly happy afterwards. In fact they were all pretty bored by what they had seen.
BRIGHTON vs ARSENAL – AWAY WIN
The Gunners came off the back of a lucky 1-0 win at home to West Ham and Brighton earned an excellent point at Wolves last time out.
True to form, the Seagulls defended well for the most part but looked flat up front against Mikel Arteta’s men.
Arsenal had more than 60 per cent possession throughout with Dan Burn keeping Nicolas Pepe in his pocket as the winger done his 48th step over of the afternoon to get it back on his left foot AGAIN.
But Bukayo Saka was far more incisive down the left and he bagged two assists in the last 15 minutes as he swept two low balls across the box to see Alexandre Lacazette prod two close range efforts home to break the home side’s hearts.
MAN CITY vs BURNLEY – HOME WIN
5-0 rout.
Sergio Aguero nailed all five from inside the box.
Obviously.
NEWCASTLE vs SHEFF UTD – GOALLESS DRAW
Absolute snooze fest.
Home side had zero shots on target but Allan Saint-Maximin went on a couple of rascal mazy runs from his own half that saw him take it past five and balloon it over the bar each time.
Dean Henderson had no saves to make but everyone still called him world class after the game.
NORWICH vs SOUTHAMPTON – SCORE DRAW
Todd Cantwell popped up with an early beauty from the edge of the box with his team knocking it about until half-time leaving everyone saying “Norwich must play the best football for a team destined to go down”.
But Danny Ings played a cute one-two with Shane Long just two minutes into the second-half before sliding one into the bottom corner.
And Daniel Farke was left running his hand through his hair ruing his team’s inability to defend.

SPURS vs MAN UTD – AWAY WIN
Bruno Fernandes masterclass saw United cruise to a 2-0 win with Odion Ighalo smashing a 30 yard volley in just before half-time.
Juan Mata came on to wrap up the points on 75 minutes.
Jose Mourinho praised his players after the game despite stats revealing they made fewer than 30 passes.
He didn’t mean a word of it.
Four of Spurs’ attacking players were stretchered off before half-time.
Troy Parrott remained on the bench.
WATFORD vs LEICESTER – AWAY WIN
Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick in a 4-3 win for the Foxes and shushed the Watford fans after every goal despite no obvious feud with them.
Troy Deeney bagged twice and set up Ismaila Sarr for Watford’s third before reminding everyone it’s only football and there’s more important things in life after the game.
He was clearly well annoyed by the defeat though and everyone could tell.
WEST HAM vs WOLVES – HOME WIN
Football fans everywhere were stunned after the game after a Jarrod Bowen brace saw the Hammers edge a 2-1 win.
The home fans were still fuming as the three points slightly undermined another protest against the board.
Matt Doherty scored Wolves’ late consolation as he continues to be the best footballer Molineux has ever seen despite being a right wing-back.
