Man Utd transfer target Edinson Cavani told he must STAY at PSG as Inter Miami confirm talks

EDINSON CAVANI has reportedly been told he must stay at Paris Saint-Germain – despite Inter Miami revealing they have held talks with the striker about a shock move.

The Uruguayan, 32, is a target for a number of clubs with Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United all interested in a January swoop.

PSG were understood to want around £25million for the forward despite his contract expiring in the summer.

But now, according to L’Equipe, the French champions have decided they are unwilling to let him go.

That is despite Cavani being desperate to leave after falling down the pecking order behind Mauro Icardi and reportedly saying his goodbyes to his current team-mates.

He even tried contacting PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi, who did not answer, but it is thought Thomas Tuchel wants to keep the lethal finisher at the club.

His side are still in the hunt for a quadruple and he wants to keep his squad together for rotation purposes.

However, Inter Miami admitted rumours they were preparing a late swoop for the ex-Napoli man were true.

Joint owner Jorge Mas told Sky Sports News: “We have had conversations about Cavani, but I don’t want to make any comments further than that based on that he is a PSG player at the time.

“We have two of our designated spots open so we’ll see where this ends up. A lot of it depends on the window closing on Friday so we’ll see what happens.

“We’ll have a great roster irrespective of our top five choices or not. We’ll be bringing a great team to the south of Florida.”

David Beckham’s new franchise make their MLS bow against Los Angeles FC on March 1.
