Man Utd transfer blow with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to sign new five-year Everton deal amid £50m interest

MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a fresh transfer blow with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to sign a new five-year contract at Everton.

The English striker, 22, has been on the radar of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent weeks, with the Old Trafford chief plotting a £50million move.

But Calvert-Lewin’s hot form is set to see him rewarded with a bumper £70,000 a week pay packet at Goodison Park, claim The Telegraph.

The England Under-21s star has scored ten times in just 22 games this season, including three goals in his past two Premier League games.

He scored both in the Toffees’ most-recent game – an impressive 2-1 win over Newcastle.

Calvert-Lewin only signed a new contract two years ago – in December 2017 – but club officials are already keen to tie him down for the long haul.

Manchester United had been keen to sign Erling Haaland in January with their finishing a real concern.

But after Borussia Dortmund beat them to the signing of the sought-after former Red Bull Salzburg striker, Solskjaer turned to Calvert-Lewin.

As exclusively revealed by SunSport, United are chasing the English star in a shock £50m deal – nearly three times as much as Haaland (£18m) cost Dortmund.

Solskjaer has proven he is keen to buy and nurture young, homegrown talent – with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood all seeing plenty of opportunities this season.

And the United chief is also hoping to lure England star Jadon Sancho back from the Bundesliga.

But Solskjaer may need to wait until the summer for that, with the Three Lions ace valued at well over £100m.
