French World Cup winner Mendy, 25, was advised by the club to self-isolate for 72 hours while tests were carried out.

Witnesses told of the dramatic moment paramedics in Hazmat suits dashed into the six-bed, £4.8million Cheshire property.

One told The Sun: “An ambulance and a rapid response car turned up at about 11am. A medic got out in a Hazmat suit – it was like something off a horror film.

“They were coming in and out of the property for about five hours. It was obvious they were treating it as though it could be something to do with the coronavirus.”

And as a consequence, Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad saw a training session planned for Friday afternoon cancelled.

But Mendy learned the good news his family had got the all clear and is expecting to be given the thumbs up to resume training with his team-mates.

And the Frenchman took to Instagram to send a message of thanks to his 2.9million followers.

He posted a video of himself talking in French alngside an English message that read: “Good morning everyone.
“First of all, I would like to thank you for your numerous messages of support following the news about my quarantine.

City’s players are now awaiting instructions as to when to report back to the CFA for training – with no matches for at least three weeks.

The club were due to take on Burnley at home this weekend before taking on Real Madrid and Newcastle over the next week in the Champions League and FA Cup.

The FA, Premier League, EFL and WSL announced no professional football in England would take place until at least April 3.

The FA, Premier League, EFL and WSL decided to suspend English professional football for three weeks in an attempt to reduce the risk of the outbreak worsening.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is the only Premier League star to catch coronavirus so far while Mikel Arteta tested positive.

A number of players or staff at Leicester, Watford, Everton, Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton are also self-isolating either due to showing symptoms of the virus or as a precautionary measure.

Lionel Messi was another star who took to Instagram to encourage people to follow official advice.

He posted a picture of him with his children and wrote: “These are complicated days for everyone.

“We live worried about what is happening and we want to help putting ourselves in the place of those who are having the worst of it, either because it directly affected them or their family and friends, or because they are working on the front line to combat it in hospitals and health centres.

“I want to send a lot of strength to all of them.

“Health must always come first.

“It is an exceptional moment and you must follow the instructions of both health organisations and public authorities.

“Only in this way can we combat it effectively.

“It is the time to be responsible and stay at home, it is also perfect to enjoy that time with yours that you can not always have.

“A hug and hopefully we can turn this situation around as soon as possible.”

As revealed by SunSport, top-flight chiefs are under increasing pressure to CANCEL the entire season.

At least two club bosses want the campaign declared null and void, which would deny Liverpool — managed by Jurgen Klopp — a first title win since 1990.

League chiefs are determined to resume playing when possible and play through to complete the season.

But a growing number of clubs believe that there is little or no prospect of football returning for MONTHS and that there is no alternative but to annul the entire campaign and start from scratch in August.
