Leicester ‘reject £38m transfer offer’ from Pep Guardiola’s Man City for Caglar Soyuncu and demand £60m for centre-back

LEICESTER have rejected a £38million offer from Manchester City for Caglar Soyuncu and are demanding £60m for their star defender, according to reports.

The Turkish star, 23, has been in fine form at the heart of the Foxes’ defence as they’ve charged to second in the Premier League.

Boss Brendan Rodgers adamantly claimed he won’t consider selling any of his stars, including James Maddison and Ben Chilwell, this winter.

But City are seemingly prepared to test his mettle, with Pep Guardiola’s defensive options severely limited through injuries this season.

Aymeric Laporte’s horror knee injury early in the season was a bitter blow for the reigning champions.

With Guardiola resorting to Fernandinho as a makeshift defender for much of the season, City are now hoping to sign a ready-made star to get their title defence back on track.

Soyuncu currently has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal after joining from German side Freiburg in a £19m deal in 2018.

With interest in the 28-cap Turkey international increasing, Leicester are thought to be readying a new, improved contract for him.

The Foxes have kept a Premier League-best eight clean sheets this term with Soyuncu marshalling the defence, alongside Jonny Evans.

But Leicester may well be preparing for life after Soyuncu, after bidding for Juventus star Merih Demiral.

Rodgers is said to have had a £25.5m bid knocked back by Juve – and face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal.
