JAMIE CARRAGHER admitted Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino’s winning goal against Tottenham should not have stood.
Jurgen Klopp’s men sealed a 1-0 triumph to surge 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Firmino’s goal came from a throw-in but replays showed it was team-mate Sadio Mane who had the last touch ahead of Serge Aurier before the ball went out of play.
Anfield legend Carragher said afterwards that it should have been a Spurs throw – but conceded it was a tough call to get right.
He told Sky Sports: “No it should have been a Tottenham throw in [that led to the goal] but the linesman is other side of the pitch, referee is behind, they’re always difficult ones to give.
“Tottenham don’t cover themselves in glory from the throw in, Mourinho would be so disappointed.
“Alderweireld should be closer but Winks gets done on the run and then the organisation goes and it becomes a pinball machine and fantastic first touch from Firmino and goal.”
Jamie Redknapp was more keen to avoid comment on the incident and instead praised Firmino’s finish, which came in the 37th minute.
He said “From Liverpool’s view the goal is quality.
“Composure from Salah, that touch from Firmino is wonderful.
“It bubbles up, not an easy one. Stays composed, doesn’t even look, knows where the goals is. It’s a brilliant finish.”
There was also controversy around a potential handball in the build-up to the goal but the incident was waved off.
Speaking afterwards, deflated Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said: “I didn’t watch it. What I watch is 200 per cent that the throw in for the start of the goal was our throw. I am confused with VAR because of that.
“Yesterday we spent half an hour defending throw-ins and we lost the game on the throw-in.
“I think the refs did a very good job, but the assistant on the opposite side didn’t see that Mane touched the ball [in the build-up to the goal].”
Mourinho also thought Andy Robertson should have been sent off for his lunge on Japhet Tanganga.
The Portuguese, who fell to his knees after Giovani Lo Celso’s astonishing miss, said: “They were lucky – they could have conceded a goal and got a red card for Robertson’s challenge.”
