FOOTBALL is on total lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic – and it is not just fans that are going out of their minds with boredom.
And with so much time on their hands away in self-isolation, we got thinking about what would happen if certain stars opted to use it to test out a new bearded look – but be warned it gets a little hairy.
Talk about hair of the Pog – let’s hope Paul Pogba does not use his isolation period to grow a red rug on his chin
All of those so-called “Super Sundays” we scoffed at because Burnley were hosting Bournemouth.
Right now, to have that grace our screens would feel as exhilarating as Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Newcastle in 1995-96 or Manchester United’s 1999 Champions League final victory.
But spare a thought for the footballers too.
Not only are they not playing the games we’d love to watch, some aren’t able to go to training.
Others aren’t even allowed to leave the house, passing the time in a host of weird ways.
James Milner has organised his teabags and trimmed his grass with scissors, while others have taken part in the viral Stay At Home Challenge thread.
Whereas Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be able to pull any thing off and it seems a beard would be a great addition for the striker
A vast number of stars – past and present – including Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Steven Gerrard have all shown of their keepy-uppy skills with a loo roll.
But at some point, many will lose the will to keep their spirits up.
Like many of us across the nation, we’ll let the stubble grow out and allow the suits to hang in the cupboard day-after-day as the trackies and hoodies get an extended run.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at how many of the world’s top stars would look if they let their beards and hair grow out.
From Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to Marouane Fellaini and Harry Kane, we’ve mocked up how the creme de la creme would look au naturel…
Marouane Fellaini best keep on top of his otherwise he will be tripping over it by the time he can get back on the pitch
It is amazing what a bit of hair can do… This rugged version of Harry Kane would surely strike even more fear into defenders
Kevin de Bruyne could look like any old man rather than one of the most sublime players in the Premier League if the Man City star decides to let his grow
Wayne Rooney has been sporting a beard for a while now, and we think it’s a great addition
Oh dear, oh dear…. Lionel Messi HAS to keep on top of his shaving otherwise he may get mistaken for a viking
Beards and some men just go together like peas in a pod… And surprisingly Neymar looks great with a hairy feature
Oh no, Mo! Hopefully if Salah was having any thoughts about growing his then he takes a look at this and realises what a bad idea it would be
Rugged, handsome and stylish… Marcus Rashford’s potential beard is a big hit with us
