INTER MILAN star Romelu Lukaku put his name in the record books by becoming the club’s fastest player to reach 20 goals.
The Belgium striker has topped a list of legends that includes Brazil legend Ronaldo, Adriano and Hernan Crespo.
After joining the Serie A side in a £73million deal last summer, Lukaku has wasted no time in hitting the ground running by scoring 20 goals in 29 matches.
Sixteen of those have come in the league and it’s two games quicker than Ronaldo, who needed 31 to hit the total.
And the 26-year-old proved he’s not willing to let complacency get the better of him after bagging his 21st in 30 matches in the 4-2 win over rivals AC Milan.
Lukaku is proving to be worth every penny after leaving Old Trafford as Inter look to end Juventus’ dominance at the top of Serie A.
Their win and Juve’s shock defeat at Verona means Antonio Conte’s side moved to the top of the league on goal difference.
After feeling unloved during his time in Manchester, Lukaku was keen to share his importance to Inter by taking to Instagram after Sunday’s contest.
Holding a shirt in the air after scoring, he wrote: “there’s a new king in town.”
Lukaku also shared wild celebrations inside the San Siro dressing room as players and staff danced up and down in jubilant mood.
Speaking to Sky Italia after the contest, he said: “We did really well during the second half. They played well during the first half, as we left them too much space and we struggled.
“However, we came out well after the interval. We completed the comeback and we’re delighted with the win.
“I think that everyone has seen this team’s mentality, we never give up and we’re always looking to win.
“I’m here to win and my only aim is to help the team get results.
“I want to thank all of the fans, my team-mates, Mister [Antonio] Conte and all of his backroom staff for the support that they’re giving me.”
