THE HOUSTON DYNAMO were caught with their pants down as a late penalty sent them crashing out of the MLS is Back Tournament.
But for their defender Zarek Valentin it was much more literal after he was captured with his hands in his shorts.
Zarek Valentin had a unique way to keep cool during Houston Dynamo’s 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy
The defender used a magic spray beneath his shorts
The 28-year-old initially had fans horrified by his less than subtle ball control.
Yet it turned out Valentin had discovered a unique way to cope with the Los Angeles heat as he retrieved a ‘magic spray’ from his shorts.
And fans were in stitches after the unfortunate incident was captured on camera.
One tweeted: “Must be hot in Florida”, to which someone else replied: “Literally hot as balls out there.”
Another said: “This is what they meant when MLS said unprecedented access to players and teams.”
A fourth added: “Wow. That spray really is magic.”
One more tweeted: “It’s what happens when you spend too much time in a bubble!”
Valentin later saw something else slip between his fingertips as Dynamo crashed out of the MLS Is Back tournament following a 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy.
The Texas outfit needed a win to progress from Group F and were on track thanks to a first-half free kick from Darwin Quintero.
But Cristian Pavon struck a late penalty to send New York City through to the Knockout Stage and eliminate both sides.
Speaking after the match, Valentin said: “We’re gutted.
“It’s really tough but ultimately I think our team made strides in this tournament, and I hope that we have a season in some shape or form to keep progressing.”
