Desperate Man Utd cannot recall Alexis Sanchez from Inter Milan loan despite still paying flop £150k a week

MANCHESTER UNITED cannot recall Alexis Sanchez from his Inter Milan loan.

Marcus Rashford’s stress fracture in his back means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack has been left threadbare.

The England 22-year-old has been ruled out for around two months meaning Solskjaer will look to delve into the January transfer market.

Solskjaer failed to replace Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku who both departed for Inter Milan in the summer.

Any hopes of Sanchez returning to fill the void and bolster the numbers have been quashed because there was no recall option in his contract.

That is despite United still paying half of his whopping £300,000-a-week contract.

Sanchez, who flopped massively at Old Trafford, hasn’t exactly set Serie A alight since his San Siro switch.

He has been out of action since October after dislocating his left ankle on international duty and only made one league start prior to that.

The 31-year-old will return to United still with two years remaining on his deal in the summer.

But his future at the club is all-but over and Solskjaer is ready to turn his attentions elsewhere this month for a short-term solution in attack.

Speaking after the 2-0 loss at Liverpool, he said: “It might be we might look at some short-term deals and that could take us through until the summer.

“We’re looking at numbers and if the right one’s there we could buy… if there’s a loan, it’s an option.”
