But according to Le 10 Sport, PSG sporting director Leonardo was told he had “no chance” of signing Onana, who has decided he wants to head to Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard dropped Kepa against Leicester last weekend following a number of underwhelming performances.
The Spaniard, 25, has not been guilty of many high-profile errors but has not justified his status as the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
Despite costing £71.6million, Kepa’s save success rate has dropped to 56 per cent this season after he managed 68 per cent in the last campaign.
He is determined to fight his way back into contention and feels hard done by.
Chelsea have the rest of the season to decide if they should stick with their man or go for another expensive signing.
According to Goal, goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon and performance advisor Petr Cech will assist Lampard in settling Kepa’s future.
Barcelona academy product Onana would offer a quality option between the sticks but is valued at over £35m but the Dutch club.
Willy Caballero did not star against the Foxes and Lamps may decide to bring Kepa back in to face Manchester United next Monday.
