The vast majority of real football around the globe has been postponed in the light of the worsening coronavirus outbreak, with Premier League games suspended until at least April 30.

A number of players and those involved in football have contracted the disease including Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi as well as several League One players.

Fans though, are keeping their spirits high online.

West Ham’s Michail Antonio and Spurs star Ryan Sessegnon entertained fans in a FIFA 20 head to head on Friday night.

Sess came out on top, meaning a forfeit for Antonio that will soon see him donning a Tottenham shirt.

And now, stars including Welshman and Real Madrid striker Bale have announced they will be taking part in a big FIFA 20 tournament in aid of charity to support the fight against the deadly bug.

He posted on Instagram: ”Let’s beat #Coronavirus!

”I’ll be competing in the #CombatCorona FIFA 20 charity stream alongside other professional footballers to raise funds for those in need.

”We’ll announce a date soon! Tag which players you want me to play against.”

Among those billed to be taking part are Chelsea stars Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billie Gilmour.

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw also appears on the promotional poster, as does Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
