And one of his first actions in charge of the club was to bring Powell in as his right hand man.

Powell has coached at several places over the last decade including Leicester, Charlton, Huddersfield, Derby and Southend.

And despite the pair having been with the team for nearly a month now, due to the Christmas break they had to wait 26 days to take charge of their first match.

Upon arrival, they were treated due to a huge banner in the style of the classic 1980s film with the words ‘Who You Gonna Call?’ underneath.

It obviously worked as Den Haag went on to win the game 2-0 against bottom of the table RKC Waalwijk.

Shaquille Pinas struck in the 32nd minute to give Pardew his first competitive goal as manager.

The visitors were then reduced to ten men in the 78th minute when Hannes Delcroix was sent off.

And Aaron Meijers ensure Pardew and Powell were given the perfect start as he netted two minutes later to guarantee all three points.

Den Haag move onto 16 points for the season in the Eredivise, however they are still a point adrift of the safetyin their bid to remain in the top flight.
