AC Milan plot blockbuster move to hire Max Allegri under Man Utd’s noses with Italian possible Solskjaer replacement

AC MILAN are reportedly plotting to bring Max Allegri back to the San Siro before Manchester United get their hands on him.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims the fallen Italian giants are ready to return to the man who won their last Serie A title in 2011.

And Milan apparently want no-nonsense Allegri to become their very own Sir Alex Ferguson as they look to climb back up the table and compete with Juventus and local rivals Inter.

Allegri, 52, has long been tipped for the Man Utd hot seat after winning five titles at Juve.

Despite last season’s triumph, he was axed by the Turin club in favour of Maurizio Sarri.

And Allegri has reportedly been waiting to see if United give Solskjaer the chop before deciding on his next move.

However, it appears Milan are readying a blockbuster move for the four-time Italian Cup winner.

They sacked Marco Giampaolo in October, just three months after replacing Gennaro Gattuso.

And now Stefano Pioli is under pressure as Milan languish in 12th place, 13 points behind a Champions League spot and just eight above the drop zone.

San Siro chiefs believe Allegri can unite the club and inspire them to a good finish this season before rebuilding the squad next summer and eventually winning some silverware.

Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already returned after playing under Allegri in the 2010/11 title-winning campaign.

While SunSport understands Krzysztof Piatek is on the verge of a £28million move to Spurs.

But it remains to be seen if Allegri fancies a second spell at Milan, with plenty of other clubs sure to be keen if they’re on the hunt for a new manager at the end of the season.

United could be one of them, but ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite to take charge should Solskjaer be sacked.
