Lewis said he is already noticing the health benefits, and posted the news to Roscoe’s 178,000 Instagram followers
The six-time world champion wrote: “Hey guys, so Roscoe is now fully vegan.
Since he has gone vegan, his coat is much softer, his swollen paws have healed up, he is no longer limping with pain of arthritis and his breathing has opened up.
“Super happy with the result and he is too.”
When Lewis got Roscoe in 2013 he called him his “best buddy”, saying: “I grew up with dogs around me.

“My mum has five dogs and my dad too. I’ve always wanted dogs and never had the opportunity so I went for it. I’ve got him a passport and he’s going to travel around with me.”
Seven-year-old Roscoe even does a bit of modelling work. Lewis said: “Roscoe is now part of a modelling agency and he has auditions, he will go up against 10 or 15 different bulldogs, they will need a bulldog for a product.
“He gets paid, $700 (£560) a day, it’s ridiculous and he gets his treat, he loves it.”
Increasing numbers of owners are feeding their pets vegan diets, a recent study has revealed.

SAFE vegan foods for dogs to eat include spinach, lentils, rice, broccoli, carrots, bananas and dates.
Some can be used in this tasty carrot, date and oatmeal treat. Mix 1½ cups of gluten-free all-purpose flour, half a cup of instant unsweetened oatmeal and 2tsp of baking powder in a bowl.
Place a cup of finely grated raw carrots and 2tbsp of pitted, chopped dates in a bowl with half a cup of natural unsalted peanut butter and half a cup of filtered water. Add that mix to your flour bowl and stir.
Flatten the dough and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 325F (gas 3) for 15 mins.
Dr Sarah Dodd, from Ontario Veterinary College in Canada found that one in five dogs were fed a vegan or vegetarian diet.
But scientists have warned there are risks as shop-bought food is not boiled to kill harmful organisms, meaning there is a risk of spreading antibiotic resistant bacteria.

DO IT WITH CARE
By Jess Welburn
OWNERS love their pets and want them to be as healthy as possible. But they need to be careful how they go about doing it to ensure it is the right thing for their animal.
Dogs can digest starch, so it is technically possible to feed them a vegetarian or vegan diet. But this should be done under the guidance of a vet-trained nutritionist.
Dogs digest animal proteins much easier and fruit and veg lacks the fat and protein necessary.
And Omega 3 is in meat and is a natural anti-inflammatory for joints.
So unless this is done under strict supervision it can cause problems.
