Evans, 25, dominated the race after taking the lead early from pole-sitter Andre Lotterer early on before cruising to victory.

Techeetah star Da Costa took second place after Bird crashed out and said he is “coming for the title”.

Ex-F1 man Sebastien Buemi claimed the final podium position after fending off Brit Alex Sims who finished fourth.

Lotterer had a disastrous race as he sunk back through the grid like a stone from first place before retiring from the race after picking up damage during the race.

Last season’s winner in Mexico settled for sixth place after starting in 17th place after a difficult weekend for Audi.
