EDDIE HEARN revealed he is going into the music business having held talks with Wiley over a rap battle against Stormzy.
The boxing promoter did a special guest DJ set on BBC Radio One, and told fans his Matchroom Sports banner will be staging music events.
Eddie Hearn revealed he is going into the music business
After playing Mesmerize by Ja Rule, Hearn was asked about the rapper’s infamous Fyre Festival, which epically flopped as organisers failed to put the event together despite it still going ahead.
Hearn revealed his company will be getting into the music business next year… he hopes with more success than Fyre Festival.
He said: “I have (seen it) but it was such a shambles. And actually, it was meant to be coming in 2020, but our launch into music is coming in 2021.
“We will, at some point, be putting together events and festivals – let’s hope they go a little bit more successfully than the Fyre Festival.”
Hearn’s announcement comes after rapper Wiley – who featured on Matchroom Boxing’s YouTube series ‘Unscripted’ – revealed he had spoken to the promoter about organising a ‘clash’ against rival rapper Stormzy.
Wiley told iFL TV last month: “I really wanted to get him in the O2 and give him the business.

Eddie Hearn on going into the music business
“We (Hearn and Wiley) did speak but because he (Stormzy) went on a world tour, now his world tour has probably come to a stop.
“But trust me I would have loved to have got that in the O2.”
Hearn played six R&B classics during his set, but told presenters Scott Mills and Chris Stark he has recently become more renowned for the ‘No Context Hearn’ social media account – which posts memes and clips from various interviews the promoter has done.
He explained: “Now I’m not really known as the guy who might have changed boxing, I’m known as the guy from Instagram.
“I get people now coming up to me in the street and just sort of poking me and saying, ‘Do that oh go on then. Do that.
“Shout out to a guy called Andy, who actually works for the NHS, who created this himself and has now got his own little business of merchandise and memorabilia.
“I managed to get him to stick 20 per cent into Haven House children’s hospital which we help as well, so listen, it’s all good fun.”

Hearn had just come off a Zoom call with Sky Sports before his set, with the promoter sweating as Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora pay-per-view fights have all been postponed.
The 40-year-old revealed he conducted the set in his pyjamas from his living room.
And his work was a hit with listeners, as Lacey from the Isle of White, said: “Possibly the best collection of songs I’ve heard ever on BBC Radio 1, and I have no idea who Eddie Hearn is, but I think I love him, what a dude.”
