Beach Volleyball Awards Most Entertaining Female Player of 2018/2019 – Laura Ludwig

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 15, 2019 – Based on voting by players and coaches, the FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball Awards recognise the outstanding performers of the year. We now turn to the Most Entertaining Female Player of 2018/2019.

Most Entertaining Female Player of 2018/2019 – Laura Ludwig (GER)

Laura Ludwig has won it all, yet still she retains the drive to win it all again, this time alongside new partner and former Germany volleyball captain Margareta Kozuch.

The 33-year-old took two years off in 2017 to have her first child after winning gold at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, Vienna 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, back to back FIVB World Tour Finals in 2016 and 2017 and two CEV European Championships.

When she returned at the start of 2019 her former partner Kira Walkenhorst was in the process of retiring after failing to recover from a back injury. It meant she turned to Kozuch and it was like she had never been away.

As always, she played with a fierce determination, yet always with a smile on her face. It was a style that had made her popular with beach volleyball fans and she responded with athletic performances at the back of the court.

It took time for the pair to gel, but a quarterfinal finish at the Vienna 5-Star hinted at their potential, and in true show-stopper style they saved their best for last by winning gold at the Rome 2019 FIVB World Tour Finals.

Keep an eye on FIVB.com, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as we unveil this year’s award winners.
