Who is Man Utd starlet Max Taylor, has he beaten testicular cancer and when is his debut?

MANCHESTER UNITED head to Kazakhstan as they prepare to face Astana in the Europa League.

The Red Devils need just a point to ensure qualification to the knockout stages, having won the reverse fixture 1-0 thanks to Mason Greenwood winner.

Yet, there will be plenty of emotion at the Astana Arena should a certain Max Taylor get some minutes.

Who is Max Taylor?

The defender was born January 10, 2000 – making him 19-years-old.

Yet, he has only been a Taylor since February, after changing his surname from Dunne.

The youngster is Manchester born and bred, signing for the Red Devils in 2014 after a successful trial.

Has he beaten cancer?

Taylor was on the cusp of breaking in the Under-23s squad when disaster struck as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

He began chemotherapy at the start of the year and is believed to be now in remission after responding successfully to the treatment.

The defender returned to training in September, telling the club’s website at the time: “I feel immensely proud and happy to be back on the training pitch with my team-mates and friends.

“Without the invaluable support of my family, team-mates and, of course, the nurses and doctors, my return to training at this stage would not have been possible.”

When will Taylor make his debut?

The 19-year-old has been called up for the first time for United’s trip to Astana in the Europa League.

Since returning full-time, Taylor has played twice in the Premier League 2 with the reserves.

Yet, he will be expected to start on the bench and take his first steps among the senior set-up.
