Swansea the target of £50MILLION takeover by Middle Eastern consortium

SWANSEA are a target for a Middle East consortium who are putting together a bid worth about £50million.

The current American owners still value the Swans highly and have an eye on promotion, which would increase the price.

But if the team stumble as the season progresses, the talks may turn into a serious takeover attempt.

The Swans currently sit in tenth spot in the Championship table following their 3-1 win against Middlesbrough.

Their victory ended a run of six matches without a win as they proved to be too good for the nine men of Boro.

Andre Ayew netted a double for the Welsh outfit, while Sam Surridge also got on the score sheet at the Liberty Stadium.

Boss Steve Cooper expressed his delight at getting back to winning ways.

He said: “I’m pleased for the fans, it’s been too long, we know that.

“The team and I have not shied away from the fact we have not won enough games at home this season.

“So, however it came, it was important we won a game here and in general it is a small step back to the team we want to be at the Liberty.

“We need to build on that, and that will be the focus in terms of getting our heads down and working even harder to make sure we are in a better place when we come here again.”

Before adding: “I felt we were the better team and deserved to win, I think we were the team who wanted to play with the ball and try and create proper chances.

“I would have liked more of it, truth be told.”
