ALAN SHEARER and Michael Owen could come face-to-face for the first time since their public fallout after Amazon Prime Video hired the pair as pundits for their Boxing Day coverage.
Viewers could witness some awkward scenes should the feuding England legends sit alongside each other in the TV studios.
Owen’s autobiography – in which he said joining Newcastle was the biggest mistake of his career – ignited a row on social media with Toon icon Shearer, 49, in October over the final days of the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2008-09.
The ex-Liverpool and Manchester United striker, 39, alleged that his former team-mate believed he was thinking of his future rather than helping Newcastle beat the drop.
Amazon Prime Video are showing 20 games in December, including all the Boxing Day fixtures, meaning there is a chance the former England pals could be reunited in the studio.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has also been signed up by the US streaming giant and will headline Amazon Prime Video’s roster of broadcasting talent when they showcase Premier League football for the first time this December.
He left his lucrative punditry role at Sky Sports in July 2018 to concentrate on his coaching career.
However a stint at Ligue 1 side Monaco lasted just three-and-a-half months and 20 matches – and Sky did not exactly rush to re-hire him this year.
Other pundits signed up include Peter Crouch, Roberto Martinez, Lee Dixon, Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp, Jermaine Jenas, Alex Scott and Peter Schmeichel.
Gabby Logan, Eilidh Barbour, Jim Rosenthal and Steve Bower will host the matches while commentators include Clive Tyldesley, Jon Champion, Connor McNamara and Guy Mowbray.
In a package believed to be worth £90m, Amazon Prime Video will show 20 Premier League matches a season for three years from 2019.
Matches will be played between December 3-5 and then on Boxing Day and December 27.
They have come under attack by fans groups for staging the Leicester v Liverpool match at the King Power stadium on December 26 at 8PM.
