Serge Aurier denies claims he SPAT at Tottenham fans while celebrating goal in win over Olympiakos

SERGE AURIER has been forced to deny accusations he spat on Tottenham fans during the win over Olympiakos.

The Ivorian was on the scoresheet as Spurs bounced back to beat the Greek side 4-2 and book their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

But it was during the celebrations that the controversy occurred.

Video footage appeared to show the 26-year-old spitting towards the direction of fans who were celebrating their third goal of the match.

Aurier, who has attracted recent criticism for his performances, appeared to cup his ears while facing the fans just seconds before.

Aurier has strongly denied the suggestions and says he would never think of doing such a thing.

He said: “Little personal message to correct a controversy!

“I will never spit on animals, let alone humans, let alone fans of this club that gives me the opportunity to express myself and do my job.

“Let’s focus on the most important goals that are coming soon.”

The majority of Spurs fans don’t dispute that he spat but remained convinced that it wasn’t intentionally aimed at the crowd.

One said: “Aurier clearly spits into the crowd. Hopefully not deliberately but he’s not the brightest.”

Another added: “He literally gets knocked in the back that may have made him splutter… honestly, the conspiracy theories from some of our fans is ridiculous.”

But one fumed: “When was the last time you accidently spat, disgusting behaviour.”
