Real Madrid will be forced to pay £3.5m fee to sign their OWN player Martin Odegaard back from Real Sociedad loan

REAL MADRID will have to pay a hefty compensation fee of £3.5m if they wish to get Martin Odegaard back from his Real Sociedad loan, according to AS.

They agreed a two-year loan deal with Sociedad this summer, but have reportedly already put the wheels in motion about having the midfielder back – but not without a big price tag.

The 21-year-old Norwegian has been flourishing while playing at Real Sociedad and despite having been sent out on loan a number of times to different clubs, appears to have found form in San Sebastian.

Zinedine Zidane has not let it go unnoticed and now wants him back at Los Blancos next summer.

In order to do so, they will have to fork out the fee to release him.

A sub-clause would be triggered, including an administration related fine being drawn up.

However, aside from a possible reduction due to the relationship between the two clubs, another option between the two clubs could be a swap deal.

Talented youngster Takefuso Kubo is currently out on loan with Mallorca from Madrid.

The 18-year-old’s loan contract comes to an end in the summer which means Madrid can then choose to send him to Sociedad in replacement for Odegaard.

Kubo makes regular starts for Mallorca and has played 15 games.

Odegaard signed for Madrid when he was just 16 years old back in 2015.

Since then he has accumulated several loan spells including three at Sociedad, only this time things have been somewhat different.

He has relished at this opportunity of this loan spell and demonstrated his abilities with four goals and five assists in La Liga.
