MARK VAN BOMMEL has been sacked by PSV Eindhoven following a torrid run which has left them 10 points adrift of leaders Ajax.
After the 3-1 defeat to Feyenoord on Sunday, the PSV board decided a change was necessary for the side who have won just twice in their last 12 matches.

The 42-year-old took over at the beginning of last season and enjoyed an impressive first season, where they missed out on the Eredivisie title on the last day of the season.
Things have declined massively this term and according to general manager Toon Gerbrands: “Performances and results have been far below what is expected at PSV.”
Gerbrands went on to add: “Matches are measuring moments but we also keep a close eye on the progress down the road.
“We always try to help and support each other at PSV and that’s what we have done the past few months.
“The club’s interest will always be of prime importance.
“Following a review of the current status in and around the first team, we have come to this painful decision.
“We have all tried hard to turn things around but unfortunately failed to do so.”
A disappointing start to the league campaign was followed up with the side failing to qualify from their Europa League group, finishing third behind Sporting Lisbon and group winners LASK.

PSV are expected to name a temporary replacement later today with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy amongst the contenders.
