Norwich and Leeds in transfer battle for £3m Standard Liege striker Renaud Emond as they eye reinforcements up front

NORWICH are chasing Standard Liege striker Renaud Emond to boost their fight to avoid relegation.

The struggling Canaries are desperate to bring in some firepower in January as they look to try to climb out of the bottom three and maintain their top flight status.

They have been closely watching Liege forward Emond, 28, who has struck seven times in 18 appearances this season.

The Liege captain has established himself as one of the most reliable forwards in the Belgian game and has helped the club up to third in the top division there.

But his form has caught the eye of clubs across Europe and Liege now fear they will have no choice but to let him leave if an offer of around £3million comes in for him next month.

Norwich are desperate to add more goals to their squads as they try to claw their way out of trouble in the second half of the season.

The Canaries have been relying too heavily on Teemu Pukki whose eight goals are more than half the team’s total in the league this season.

Championship promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest have also been watching Emond with the view to making a bid as they look to step up their efforts to get back into the top flight.

And Leeds have also shown an interest as they consider whether they need another option up front to help get them to automatic promotion this season.
