The 48-year-old was sacked by Bayern in November and Hansi Flick has taken temporary charge until the end of the season.
Kovac was spotted at Goodison Park on Saturday and watched Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea accompanied by his representatives.
His visit to Goodison sparked rumours he could be about to step into the vacant Toffee’s manager role.
But Kovac moved quickly to quash the suggestion insisting he is only in England to catch a few games while he is on a break.
However there may be more to it than meets the eye as Kovac is keen on the Arsenal job, according to Goal.
Kovac’s people are also said to have got in touch with the Gunners to express their man’s interest.
Freddie Ljungberg is in temporary charge but has got off to a terrible start, drawing 2-2 with Norwich before losing 2-1 at home to Brighton.
Max Allegri and Mikel Arteta are other names in the running to replace Unai Emery who was sacked last month.
