The Frenchman said: ”Out of all the Chelsea players, one player who has the biggest potential is Mason Mount.

”His combination play, his shooting technique, passing technique.

”How he sees the game. He could become a very good player”.

Mason, 20, has faced recent criticism including from fans and former Chelsea boss Jose Mounrinho back in the summer.

However, his high quality performances in recent weeks appear to have silenced the critics.

Even his dad could not hide his emotion after the win over Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Tony Mount took to Twitter to express his happiness with the result, posting: ”2-0 CFC” including a zipped mouth emoji and a picture of Mourinho holding up a Tottenham shirt.

Critics have formerly claimed Mount is not good enough for a starting role at Chelsea.

Mounrinho said a few months back, as a pundit for Sky Sports, when it comes to Mount’s performance ‘you need a little bit more’.

Current Blues boss Frank Lampard responded, saying: ”I don’t have to be too concerned about what anyone else says, pundit-wise of anyone, they have to speak”.

Mount scored his first England goal in the Three Lions’ 4-0 thrashing of Kosovo in November.
