Mourinho’s Spurs score five goals in just his fifth game in charge – something he failed to do in 93 games with Man Utd

TOTTENHAM’S 5-0 romp over Burnley saw Jose Mourinho’s side score five goals in his fifth game in charge – something he NEVER achieved with Manchester United.

His United side boasted the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial – but couldn’t bag five in a match.

The most the Red Devils managed in Mourinho’s 93 games in charge was four, on 14 occasions.

In fact, it was the first time one of his team’s has bagged five in a match since January 2015 when his Chelsea team beat Swansea 5-0 on the way to the league title.

The football at Old Trafford towards the end of his tenure had grown dour.

But with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dele Alli in blistering form this afternoon, Spurs looked like scoring every time they went forward.

Skipper Kane gave them the perfect start when he smashed one in from outside the box after just four minutes, with Lucas Moura doubling the lead after nine.

Son then stole the show with a sublime solo goal, running the length of the field before slotting past Nick Pope after 32 minutes.

Kane made it four early in the second, before a second Moussa Sissoko goal in the last two home games rounded off the rout.

A delighted Jose Mourinho lavished praise on Son for his wondergoal after the match.

He said: “Even before the goal, my son calls him Sonaldo after Ronaldo Luís Nazário.

“The only thing that comes to my mind is the goal when I had the honour of being next to Sir Bobby Robson in 1996 when Ronaldo scored a wonderful goal.

“From the outside I had a feeling. I remember speaking to Sir Alex about Ji-sung Park. Maybe it’s a cultural thing. They’re very coachable. The kid is fantastic. I’m very happy, so happy.”

The win took Spurs to within six points of another of Mourinho’s former clubs Chelsea, who currently occupy the much coveted final Champions League place.
