WHAT an interesting and incredibly risky choice, not just for Jose Mourinho but for Daniel Levy too.
It feels like another marriage of convenience, but it will only end in a messy divorce.

Mourinho needs to rebuild his reputation to a certain extent, and Levy probably needs to get a trophy to put in the new stadium museum.
Jose is used to spending money and getting what he wants, which is what happened at United for the first couple of transfer windows.
But here’s the problem, because Levy, as we know, has a habit of being slightly more cautious, so the January window and of course next summer will tell us a lot about how far Mourinho will go with his new club.
My personal view is that once again, it’ll end badly for Mourinho and the Spurs supporters.
They might well win a cup but who knows what condition the playing squad and culture at the training ground be left in when he eventually waves goodbye.
Although not a universally popular choice when he replaced Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford, Jose quickly justified the decision to give him the United job by winning the Europa League and League Cup.
Away ends briefly bounced as he got us ‘playing the way that United should’, before the football turned increasingly dull and relationships with players very publically soured.
The siege mentality that first surfaced in his final dark days at Chelsea returned.

And when forced to pick between him and the players, we the fans got behind a squad we felt could do a lot better under someone else.
I expect an immediate impact this month from Mourinho but once the results start to become overshadowed by tantrums and a defensive style of play, then it’s likely that we’ll see the end of Mourinho’s career in England.
It’s last chance saloon.
