Mbappe will leave PSG in the summer as striker’s mum ‘tells Real Madrid £342m transfer is ON’

REAL MADRID have been given hope that they can complete the stunning signing of Kylian Mbappe next summer, it has been claimed.

The Spanish giants are desperate to land World Cup winner Mbappe as they look to build a squad capable of reviving their flagging fortunes.

Real are said to be trying to put together the finances to launch a world record £342million bid for the 20-year-old forward.

And now reports in Spain suggest his mother and agent has told the club that her son will not be extending his current contract with PSG.

Spanish title Sport say that has given the club the encouragement they need to press on with their plans to break the bank to sign Mbappe at the end of this season.

Mbappe’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2022, and PSG would love to get the French star tied down to a new long-term deal.

The need to keep hold of the brilliant attacker is growing given the likelihood of Neymar quitting the club at the end of the season.

Neymar only stayed in Paris because the club held firm over Barcelona’s attempts to sign him for £236m at the beginning of the current campaign.

But the Brazilian is making it clear he does not want to stay in France, and a return to the Nou Camp is growing increasingly likely.

Losing Mbappe as well would be a major blow, but PSG know if the striker sees out his contract they would lose all the power when it comes to demanding a fee.

He would still be under 24 by the time he comes a free agent, so would not be able to sign for anyone else without a fee.

But those compensation rights are unlikely see them awarded a financial package which would be anywhere near his true market value.

So the reports claim that would leave Real in a strong position to try to push for a deal next summer, threatening PSG with the potential they would lose millions if they did not sell up in the short term.
