Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Sheffield United ‘wanted it more’ – as fans call for #OleOut on social media

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER admitted Sheffield United “wanted it more” than his team during the crazy 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane tonight amid calls for “Ole Out” online.

United were woeful for most of the game and trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes left on the clock as three goals in seven crazy minutes somehow saw them take the lead.

But Oli McBurnie struck the equaliser to make it 3-3 on the 90th minute mark to give the hosts a deserved point and Solskjaer thinks a lack of desire saw his side drop two points.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Norwegian said: “Sheffield United looked like they wanted it more than us and believed in their game plan more than we did.

“We did not have a shot on target first half which is not acceptable.

“But sometimes football is beyond tactics.

“Their energy compared to ours in the first half and then we get that goal and we start to believe.

“The difference in the team this year compared to last is huge. They never give in.

“Last year we would have gone four or five down instead of coming back. We would not have been able to come back.

“When you are 2-0 down you have to go for it, play with less fear and just go for it.”

Youngsters Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford scored United’s goals.

And despite the disappointing result, Solskjaer was still proud of the contribution of his young stars.

He added: “The average ages of the goals is less than 20, it’s something we are proud of.

“It’s a great experience for our young players because it’s not easy to comeback at a place like this.

“It’s mixed emotions.

“We cannot be happy, we have not performed for the majority of the game but we turned it around and we showed what we could be capable of.

“We have to do it now for a whole game. We know we can, we just have to show it.”

Despite the attempt at optimism, fans online were not so willing to look on the bright side.

#OleOut was trending for a while as supporters demanded the Norwegian be sacked.

One mocked up a picture of ‘The Joker’ and called him “Ole Gunnar Jokeskjaer”.

And another posted a snap of recently sacked Mauricio Pochettino with the caption: “Only a matter of time… #OleOut.”
