MANCHESTER CITY boss Pep Guardiola’s plan to bring in Real Sociedad attacker Mikel Oyarzabal has convinced his stars the club will offload Leroy Sane.
Sane was all set for a summer move back to Germany and Bayern Munich until he suffered a serious knee injury in the Community Shield.
City’s move for Spanish striker Mikel Oyarzabal has convinced Etihad stars that Leroy Sane is heading to Bayern Munich
Guardiola wants Spain striker Oyarzabal in a £68m deal.
Sane’s transfer will be back on next year – although City would need to lower their £145m valuation of a player who cost them just £37m from Schalke in 2016.
The winger, 23, hopes to return to training early next year following five months out after making strong progress.
But his City pals, including fellow Germany international Ilkay Gundagon, are convinced he will be sold.
Sane will only have one year left on his City deal next summer.
That will dramatically lower his valuation.
He had talks with City over a new deal in August, but they broke down as he wants far more than Etihad chiefs are willing to pay.
The stumbling block to any Munich transfer at the moment remains the uncertainty over the future of the management role.
Niko Kovac was fired last month.
Bizarrely, Guardiola himself has been linked with a return to the Bavarians and could end up managing Sane once again.
But for now, his City team-mates think they have played their last game with the German – and Guardiola’s strong interest in Oyarzabal, 22, has only increased those whispers.
Sane is desperate to get back home and join the German champions.
A deal could even be done this January, as City would get more money than if they let his contract whittle down even further.
