KEISUKE HONDA has quit Vitesse Arnhem after just six weeks at the club – having begged teams, including Manchester United, to sign him earlier this season.
The Japanese star, 33, pleaded with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bring him to Old Trafford via Twitter in September.

Honda wrote: “Give me an offer. I don’t need money but I need to play with great team and great team mate! @ManUtd @ManUtd_JP”.
The former AC Milan midfielder later signed for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, but has walked away after just over a month in Holland.
Speaking on leaving Vitesse, Honda revealed: “When I came here, my mission was to change the situation.
“I did not succeed. [Boss] Leonid Slutskiy left the club. I feel responsible for that.
“That’s why I don’t think I should play here after the winter.
“I appreciate that everyone, team-mates and supporters, took good care of me.”
Honda played four times for the Eredivisie side, failing to score and picking up two bookings in the process.
He leaves with the club sixth in the Dutch top-flight, 14 points adrift of league-leaders Ajax.
However, Honda isn’t unemployed – as he is still manager of the Cambodia national team, a position he’s held since August 2018.
The attacking midfielder took the job while playing for Melbourne Victory in Australia – where he revealed he was holding weekly Skype meetings with players.
Argentine Felix Dalmas serves as head coach of the team, with Honda officially described as being the nation’s “general manager”.
