MAURICIO POCHETTINO had been a revelation at Tottenham since taking over in 2014 – until this season.
The Argentine has moulded the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli into world-class players, while guiding Spurs to an impressive Champions League final last year.
Mauricio Pochettino has been sensationally sacked as Tottenham boss
But a disappointing start to the campaign has seen the North Londoners slip to 14th in the Premier League, leading the club to SACK Pochettino.
How old is Mauricio Pochettino?
The ex-Tottenham boss came into the world on March 2, 1972 – making him 47-years-old.
The Santa Fe native started his youth footballing career at Newell’s Old Boys, the Argentine club famous for having a certain Lionel Messi on their books.
A move to Europe saw Pochettino join Espanyol in Spain, a club spent over nine years at across two permanent spells and one loan deal.
In the middle of those, the Argentine spent three years in France, firstly with Paris Saint-Germain before a season at Bordeaux.
Pochettino retired from playing at the age of 34, having won 20 caps for his country as well.
Three years after hanging his boots up, the Spurs boss took charge of Espanyol’s first team, before moving to Southampton where his reputation grew to new heights.
A season-and-a-half later, he was on the move again, this time to Tottenham where he has become one of the best young managers in the game.
But after five years in North London, he was given the boot.
Who are his wife and children?
Mr Pochettino married wife Karina in 1994, and has previously claimed that she is his biggest critic.
The Argentine told his better half to remain at home for matches, after Spurs’ form picked – only to receive messages after the game about their performance.
Mauricio and Karina Pochettino are proud parents to two boys, Sebastiano and Maurizio.
Maurizio, 18, joined Tottenham’s academy nearly three years ago as a winger.
Meanwhile the older Pochettino son, 24, has not been left out, having been a first-team sports scientist under his dad.
However, it is unknown whether the pair will continue with their duties at Spurs following their father’s dismissal.
