Dan James NOT Man Utd’s quickest player this year despite Giggs’ claim he’s fastest he’s ever seen

DANIEL JAMES is not Manchester United’s quickest star despite Ryan Giggs claiming the Welshman is the fastest player he has ever seen.

Stats show it is one of United’s other attacking talents who has notched up the highest speed in the first 12 games of the season.

Wales manager Giggs recently described James, 22, as the fastest player he has ever seen.

And having recorded a fastest speed of 21.76mph against Leicester in September, you can see why.

But despite the cheetah like numbers revealed by Opta, James has been pipped to the title of quickest United star by another speed demon – Marcus Rashford.

During United’s clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in August, Rashford, 22, recorded a breathtaking 22.57mph, beating his Welsh team-mate by 0.81mph.

But on that occasion, rapid Rashford did not help his team as they were beaten 2-1 by Roy Hodgson’s men.

England star Rashford – who scored for Gareth Southgate’s men during the 7-0 demolition of Montenegro at Wembley last night – has broken the 22mph barrier twice this season.

The 1-1 home draw with Arsenal in September was the other time while James is yet to hit the milestone.

James was not content to settle for second place after United shared the stats on Twitter.

He replied: “Not sure about this… 🤔 @MarcusRashford”

Rashford brilliantly hit back: “Stats don’t lie 🤷🏾‍♂️😅”

Despite not being the quickest, James has five of United’s eight fastest speeds to his name this season which may come as some consolation.
