Chelsea fans buzzing with star defender Antonio Rudiger set to start just second game of the season

ANTONIO RUDIGER makes just his second start of the season as Chelsea host Lille in the Champions League.

Frank Lampard’s side must win tonight to guarantee progression to the last-16.

And having his German centre-back available again is a huge boost for the Blues boss.

Rudiger has made just one appearance so far this season, against Wolves in September.

And even that day, he only lasted 45 minutes before having to be substituted.

Lampard is not the only one delighted to have him back, however,

Chelsea fans on social media couldn’t wait to show their delight at having the 26-year-old back.

One fan wrote: “I’m happy Rudiger is back. He ain’t “world class” but at least no defender comes close to him in our team.”

While another posted: “RUDIGER IS BACKKKKKK”.

And another just hopes that he can fix the leaky defence: “Let’s hope Rudiger stays fit and brings back the sense in that defence.”

Good to Rudiger back, it’s long overdue and we need him after recent results,” another added.

While one dreamily hoped: “Rudiger’s header written in the skies”.

A draw would still see Chelsea qualify if Ajax beat Valencia in Amsterdam this evening.
