Carlo Ancelotti to name son Davide as his assistant manager at Everton alongside Duncan Ferguson

CARLO ANCELOTTI is on the verge of becoming Everton manager and he will be joined on Merseyside by son Davide.

Having followed his father to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli, Davide will reportedly become the new Toffees assistant.

The deal will see caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson relegated back to the position of assistant, working with the Ancelottis.

In two games in charge, the fiery Scot has surpassed expectations by beating Chelsea and earning a point at Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports, Ferguson will take up his place on the backroom staff alongside Davide, 30.

Initially a fitness coach at PSG and Real, he is no stranger to following Carlo around and was also on AC Milan’s youth books when his dad was manager.

However Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reports that Davide will merely be a backroom coach at Everton, not on Ferguson’s level as an assistant.

Leaving Napoli after his father’s sacking, the assistant coach posted online: “Thank you to all the Napoli staff. Thank you to the players. Thank you to all those fans who have always supported us. Thank you to the city in which my children were born.”

FAMILY AFFAIR

Ancelotti also employed his son-in-law Mino Fulco as a nutritionist in Italy, having first brought him into Real Madrid before he married the coach’s daughter Katia.

It is not yet certain that he or fitness coach Francesco Mauri will be heading over to Everton, the pair both possessing famous family ties that reportedly irked some Napoli players.

Negotiations between Ancelotti, 60, and the Toffees are expected to continue throughout the week with an £11.5million-a-year deal on the table.

Ferguson will see out his caretaker period with the League Cup clash against Leicester on Wednesday.

Speaking after Sunday’s draw at Old Trafford, the ex-striker admitted: “We need the best manager in the world and I’ve not got the experience.

“I’m all for us bringing in a top manager and if I can be part of it then great.”
