Stewards were forced to quickly remove the offending items from the pitch.

And the match was eventually allowed to continue, with Barcelona and Real Madrid playing out a 0-0 draw for the first time in 17 years.

Gareth Bale had a late winner for the visitors ruled out by VAR.

And the “highlight” of the game came when Toni Kroos pulled down Lionel Messi’s shorts, exposing his underpants.

It just went to show that even the GOAT can’t control what happens in big matches.

“Pantsgate” comes on the back of his SIXTH Ballon d’Or win – a new record.

And Messi is now in line to be offered a new Barcelona contract until 2023, with talks set to take place in Argentina next week.

As for Real, they remain joint-top of La Liga with Barcelona but are two strikes behind in the goal difference stakes.
