Balotelli sent home from training after spat with Brescia boss but striker ‘has not been smiling’ since racial abuse

MARIO BALOTELLI was reportedly sent home from training after a furious bust-up with new Brescia boss Fabio Grosso yesterday.

Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia claims the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker was told to leave the club’s training complex just an hour into Thursday’s session.

And Brescia owner Massimo Cellino claims Balotelli is “no longer smiling” after he was racially abused by Verona fans at the start of the month.

Things looked to be on the up for Balotelli when Brescia signed him on a three-year deal over the summer.

The attacker, 29, looked to be joining Brazilian’s Flamengo when his hometown club made a late move.

And Balotelli revealed his mum cried with joy in the wake of the fairytale transfer.

However, the 2012 Premier League winner has played just six times this term, scoring only twice.

And he destroyed a photographer’s camera in a tantrum after being subbed during October 3-1 defeat to Genoa.

Brescia find themselves bottom of Serie A after winning just two of their first 11 matches.

And Eugenio Corini was swiftly axed at the start of November to make way for former Italy left-back Fabio Grosso.

However, he upset Balotelli by taking the forward off at half-time in his first game as boss – a 4-0 home defeat to Torino.

And it appears tensions spilled over between the pair ahead of Sunday’s trip to Roma.

But Balotelli has also had to deal with horrific racial abuse this season from Verona fans.

Balotelli kicked the ball at the thugs before walking off the field.

And Verona were then hit with a one-game partial stadium ban as punishment.

However, Brescia fans released a statement defending their Verona counterparts while branding Balotelli “arrogant.”

Owner Cellino, once of Leeds United, claims his star player has been hugely affected by the incident, and is no longer a happy presence at the club.

Cellino said: “[The clash with Grosso?] I wasn’t there.

“Grosso didn’t call me; I have to assume that there aren’t any problems.

“Anyway, Mario hasn’t been smiling since Verona.”
