Ljungberg’s first game at the Emirates after replacing axed Unai Emery will be tomorrow’s Prem clash with Brighton but Wenger said he is willing to do anything to help his former player.

Wenger said: “I’m always happy to help my former players and my former club.

“And if he has that need, then of course I will be available.

“I do not want to comment too much on Arsenal.

“But my heart is with the club and I want them to do well.

“Freddie is fantastic and committed and he will want to do this job for a long time.

“So he has an opportunity. What you want in life is that opportunity.

“Let’s get him to work with his ideas and support him.”

Ljungberg needed a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double to avoid defeat on his first game in charge on Sunday.

The Gunners twice had to come from behind to draw 2-2 against Norwich.

But before the away game, Ljungberg revealed he has no immediate desire to become permanent Arsenal manager.
