NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has stormed to the top of the bookies’ favourites to replace under-pressure Unai Emery at Arsenal in the coming weeks.
The Spanish chief is facing the axe at the Gunners after yet another horror afternoon – this time in the 2-2 draw at home to Southampton.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is hot favourite to replace Emery in the Arsenal dugout
Emery is now ODDS-ON to get the boot next, following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking from Tottenham.
But the Argentine has fallen down to 8/1 to become the next Gunners manager, as Espirito Santo comes in at evens with Ladbrokes.
Former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri – who has been out of work since leaving Juventus in the summer – is next on the list at 4/1
Meanwhile, ex-Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta drops to third at 7/1 – having previously been the favourite.
Further down the list, there is more Gunners legends, including current assistant Freddie Ljungberg at 10/1, along with former Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez.
Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe (16/1) and current Nice manager Patrick Vieira (20/1) are among the outsiders for the job.
Niko Kovac, who was recently sacked by Bayern Munich, is on the shortlist at 25/1 – the same price as Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers, as he continues to shine with the Foxes.
Arsenal fans at this stage would take almost anyone, with supporters taking to Twitter to vent their frustration and others boycotting the Saints game entirely.
One fuming fan tweeted: “Dear @Arsenal, how many retweets to get #EmeryOut by Monday morning?”
Another added: “I’ve seen Arsenal sign Bendtner, Andre Santos, Gervinho, Chamakh, Senderos, Sanogo, Gazidis as chief executive and still the the worst recruitment ever by Arsenal is Unai Emery. #EmeryOut.”
Boos ran out around the Emirates after the final whistle and Emery is now favourite to be the next manager to lose his job in the Premier League – after Everton’s Marco Silva and Manuel Pellegrini of West Ham.
