Andy Robertson insists Liverpool are striving for ‘perfection’ but warns Napoli will want revenge

ANDY ROBERTSON claims Liverpool are striving for “perfection” – but has warned Napoli will be on a Euro revenge mission at Anfield.

Both Liverpool and the Italians can secure their spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League with three points.

But Napoli will not forget the gut-wrenching match on Merseyside in the group stages last December when Reds keeper Alisson, with his team winning 1-0 in injury-time, produced a stunning stop to deny Arkadiusz Milik.

That result saw Jurgen Klopp’s team through but had Milik levelled in the 92nd minute, the point would have seen Napoli in the last 16.

Liverpool – who ended up winning the tournament – would have been eliminated.

Robertson said: “Napoli will want to get into the top 16 as they did not do it last year because we stopped them – and they will want to get a bit of revenge.

“But, I believe we will cause them problems. At 100 per cent, we can beat anyone. Napoli are no different. Hopefully we can get the three points.”

The Scottish defender, still struggling with an ankle issue, admits Liverpool have not been at their best defensively and they have only managed three clean sheets in 20 matches in all competitions.

He added: “We strive for perfection and it is not always possible. People are saying we have not hit our heights but hopefully that will come.

“It will be good to get more clean sheets and nice to get some more comfortable wins.

“It would be nice for our fans to be able to enjoy a game for the last ten minutes rather than seeing us hold on for the last two or three minutes.”
