‘Tubby’ Andy Ruiz Jr to weigh the SAME for Anthony Joshua rematch after ‘tricking’ fans into thinking he was slimmer

ANDY RUIZ JR insists he will weigh the same for his Anthony Joshua rematch as he did in June amid Eddie Hearn claiming the Mexican had “tricked” fans into think he had lost some beef.

The 30-year-old heavyweight champion shocked fans online after posting a picture looking much trimmer than he was the night he dethroned AJ in New York on June 1.

But promoter Hearn reckoned the Snickers lover is actually HEAVIER, than he was in June, after watching the star’s open workout in San Diego last Sunday.

Now Ruiz Jr, who had previously claimed he wanted to be 7lbs lighter this time around, has revealed admitted he will probably tip the scales around the 122kg again as he said Joshua’s tactic of slimming down will not make any difference.

He told Sky Sports: “I don’t think it’ll matter, I’ll weigh the same I did on June 1.

“I know ‘AJ’ has been working on different technicals, he’s slimmed down, so we’ve been working on different things and angles, different pressures and combos, ready for whatever he brings.

“I didn’t want to do anything different. We just trained harder and focused more in the gym on the speed and the technicals, and of course the pressure.

“I don’t want to show too much of what we’re working on, it’ll all come out on December 7.”

He added: “Every boxer has to have that confidence that they are better than other fighters. I don’t underestimate anyone in the ring, I know AJ will look good, it’s my job to prove everyone wrong again.

“I’ve been working hard since I was six-years old, these belts mean a lot to me. I made my dreams come true and now I’ll make another dream come true.

“I don’t want to predict any knockouts, but I’ll die trying to get this victory to bring these belts back to Mexico. The hard part is over, it’s time to have fun on December 7.”

Ruiz’s comments come after Hearn admitted he thought the champ was looking “tubby”.

He told iFL TV: “I thought he looked quite tubby. I actually thought he looked heavier than he did previously.

“Make your own mind up. That clip that I saw, which was him training in San Diego, I didn’t think that he looked slimmer than he did last camp.

“There was one picture of him leaning forward.

“The old ‘lean forward’, tucked back, with a little pout, can make you lose half a stone. Maybe he’s done that.”
