Fuming Postecoglou asks ‘you flew all the way for that?’ after journalist’s cheeky stunt at Tottenham press conference

ANGE POSTECOGLOU did not see the funny side after a German reporter held up a Bayern Munich shirt with Harry Kane on the back in his Tottenham press conference. The Spurs boss was speaking to the media ahead of his side’s friendly with Leicester on Sunday in Bangkok when the Bild journalist pulled off the stunt.

The reporter who brought the Kane Bayern shirt to Postecoglou’s press conference was BILD’s Max Schrader. Postecoglou was angry when he saw the shirt and said: “What can I say about that? Nothing!” – Spurs press officer then wanted to intervene, but the coach continued [@BILD] pic.twitter.com/rrVWt505ch— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) July 22, 2023

He lifted a new Bayern kit with the name ‘Kane’ and the No9 on the back and asked Postecoglou what he thought of it, cheekily adding: “It looks quite good, no?”
Safe to say the Spurs boss was deeply unimpressed by the hack’s antics.
Postecoglou, sporting a face like thunder, replied: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.
“Did you get a good laugh for it? Got what you came to get? Maybe? Very good. You came a long way for that, thank you.”

It comes after Bayern had two approaches, believed to be £60million and £70m, turned down for Spurs legend Kane.
The German giants believe the England captain, who has a year remaining on his contract, wants to join them.
Postecoglou then moved on to answer other questions but was clearly still annoyed and made a thinly-veiled dig back at the reporter in a reply about his ambitions at Spurs.
The Australian, 57, said: “All I can do is just try to work hard like I have everywhere else. We’re in the early part of it. As I said, it’s a massive football club, a massive opportunity and a massive challenge here.

“That’s what we’ll try to do, bring success to one of the biggest football clubs in the world, big enough to make up fake jumpers to be a presence.”
Postecoglou said earlier this week that “it was fair to say I’m not relaxed about” the situation involving Kane and that it did no one any favours for the situation to drag on.
The German reporter’s first question before his skit was whether the Spurs boss still felt that way, to which Postecoglou simply replied: “That was two days ago and nothing has changed.” More

Saudi government launch transfer bid for Kylian Mbappe after PSG star is left out of club tour and put up for sale

SAUDI ARABIA have launched a stunning bid to bring Kylian Mbappe to the Saudi Pro-League.The news comes after Kylian Mbappe was left out of PSG’s squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.

Mbappe, 24, is refusing to extend his deal in Paris and has just a year left to run on his contract.
And PSG are keen to sort his future before the season starts, with the club unwilling to lose him on a free next year.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has set an internal deadline on the forward’s future, with the club keen to have things decided before the season starts.
Khelaifi said during manager Luis Enrique’s unveiling: “We want him [Mbappe] to stay but he can’t leave for free.”

The prospect of Mbappe leaving for free would cause significant financial fair play issues for PSG – given the amount of transfer outlay and wages they have forked out for the forward.
Reports suggest that were Mbappe to walk away from the club at the end of his contract, PSG would have to let as many as four other stars go to fill the financial hole left by the Frenchman.

The expectation throughout the Mbappe saga has been that the forward would sign for Real Madrid – whether that be this summer or on a free next year.
But it appears that the Saudi league are now willing to test both Kylian Mbappe and PSG’s resolve with a transfer offer.

Foot Mercato report that the Saudi government have begun the internal process of putting a deal in place.
The state are willing to offer the forward a lucrative deal having failed in the race for Lionel Messi.
The outlet reports that any move would see Mbappe jettisoned onto the side of Al-Hilal, who the Saudi government see as the league’s premium side.
So far this window, Al-Hilal have signed Ruben Neves from Wolves, Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
While no details have been given regarding the wage Mbappe would be offered – it’s safe to assume that the deal would be eye watering.
Jordan Henderson’s move to Al-Ettifaq – a side not directly owned by the Saudi government – will see him earn £700,000-a-week.
It’s likely that anything Mbappe is offered would dwarf that figure. More

But they face competition from North London rivals the Gunners, who are eyeing a a fresh move for the Brazilian.
They were keen on Luiz last summer but the 25-year-old signed a new contract at Villa Park.
Hojbjerg, 27, is not a natural fit for new boss Ange Postecoglou’s attacking style and looks likely to leave Spurs.
Talks with Atletico Madrid are ongoing, while his old club Bayern Munich have shown an interest.

Chelsea have already had two bids rejected for Caicedo, including a £70million offer launched earlier this week.
According to The Athletic, those offers were seen as way too low by Brighton, who are not willing to entertain bids below their £100million valuation.
Brighton see Caicedo as at least as good, if not better, than Rice and believe he is worth a similar amount.
Rice completed a £105million move to Arsenal from West Ham last weekend.

In addition, Brighton rejected a £70million bid from the Gunners for Caicedo as recently as January.

Harry Kane ‘to REJECT all new contract offers from Tottenham with England captain set on Bayern Munich transfer’

HARRY KANE won’t accept any new contract offers from Tottenham and is instead keen on moving to Bayern Munich.Kane has entered the final year of his deal with Spurs, who refuse to sell him for less than £100million and are hoping to tie him down to a new agreement that would increase his £300,000-per-week wages.

According to The Times, however, the striker has no intention of penning another contract with the North Londoners this summer, meaning he will be able to leave for free at the end of the coming season.
The England captain is not planning to push for an exit like he did in 2021 when Manchester City showed interest.
Sources close to the player claim all options are still on the table and that he would consider a move if Tottenham do not wish to risk him entering the season without putting pen to paper on a new deal.
Chairman Daniel Levy will have to decide whether to cash in now to avoid losing his record goalscorer for free or hold on to him and hope he leads the team to Champions League qualification.
    Read More on Football
Bayern have had two bids turned down for Kane, who turns 30 next week, with their latest offer worth £68.5m plus add-ons.
Tottenham could use an improved bid by the German champions to reinforce Ange Postecoglou’s side after a poor season that saw them finishing eighth in the Premier League table.
However, Kane would also enhance the team’s hopes of a Champions League spot next season as a fifth-placed finish could suffice ahead of the 2024-2025 campaign thanks to planned reforms.
If Tottenham make it to Europe’s elite competition then that would lead to a £60m windfall that would significantly ease the blow of losing the England record goalscorer for free.

That would count as profit for the club as the 29-year-old came through the academy and thus cost them nothing.
If Kane leaves then Postecoglou would have to count either on Son Heung-min who had a tough campaign or Richarlison who has only managed three goals.
The Australian tactician may also have to sign an elite striker, which could take a long time. More
