      THE world of football was left heartbroken and shocked in April 2022 when super-agent Mino Raiola died at the age of 54.But Rafaela Pimenta, branded “the most powerful woman in football” stepped up and took over from Mino Raiola. Here’s everything you need to know about the new heiress.
      Who is Rafaela Pimenta?
      Brazilian lawyer Pimenta is set to make a huge impact in the world of football.
      She studied jurisprudence at the University of Sao Paulo before going on to work in the antitrust division of the Brazilian Government.
      Pimenta has also been a partner of Raiola’s agency for 18 years – and is believed to have had an instrumental role in some of the world’s biggest football transfers.
      She first met Raiola over two decades ago – at a charity match organised by Brazilian footballers Rivaldo and Cesar Sampaio.

      After the pair instantly hit it off, Raiola invited Pimenta to come and work with him, so she moved to Monaco, where the One agency is based.
      Although Raiola is succeeded by two sons Mario and Gabrielle, after his death his agency was entrusted to Rafaela, who now works with some of the world’s biggest football stars.

      With the help of Mario and Gabrielle, Pimenta is representing some of the biggest talents in football, including Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Blaise Matuidi.
      Other world class names include Marco Verratti, Mario Balotelli, Moise Kean, Alphonse Areola, Alessio Romagnoli, Adnan Januzaj and Noussair Mazraoui.
      And she has certainly had a busy start to the post-Raiola era – after she negotiated the finer details of Haaland’s £51.2 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City.
      Pimenta is particularly close with Juventus midfielder Pogba and appears in the Manchester United player’s 2022 Amazon Prime documentary, The Pogmentary.

      Who is Mathias Pogba?
      Mathias Fassou Pogba, born August 19, 1990 is a Guinean professional footballer.
      Born in Conakry, Guinea – to mother Yeo, along with twin brother Florentin.
      The forward initially rose through the youth ranks at Celta along with his twin, before joining Breton club Quimper where he was handed his first professional contract in 2009.
      In September 2010, Pogba moved to the UK and joined Conference National side Wrexham – after a successful trial spell the month before.
      However, he decided to move on from Wrexham in a bid to play football at a higher level – which didn’t go down too well with club boss Andy Morrell.

      Why do Nottingham Forest have no sponsor?
      Nottingham Forest have no shirt sponsor as no deal has been agreed with any potential partner.
      Steve Cooper’s men saw their deal with BOXT expire at the end of last season.
      The club turned down an offer from the boiler company to extend their partnership into their first Premier League campaign of the millennium.
      Following that decision from the Forest owners, BOXT signed a deal to become Everton sleeve sponsors.

      Are Nottingham Forest going to get a sponsor?
      Nottingham Forest are certainly keen to secure a sponsorship agreement and the situation regarding the plain front of their shirts is not one they had planned for.
      According to reports from the East Midlands, numerous deals have been close to being agreed but none have got over the line yet.
      According to Sport Business, Forest chairman Evangelos Marinakis is holding for a £10m-a-season deal and was willing to start the campaign without a sponsor if his demands were not met.
      There has also been a restructuring which has seen the club only make two key commercial appointments in the first week of August.
      Former Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley has been brought in by Marinakis to help push a deal through.

      At the end of July, Sheffield Hallam University finance expert Dr Dan Plumley told Football Insider: “It’s ambitious. We have to look at benchmarks.
      “West Ham and Everton’s are around £10m or £11m. Newcastle and Leeds meanwhile are closer toward £7.5m. That is the region we’re looking at.
      “We know betting companies will often pay more than non-betting companies.
      “For a newly-promoted club, you are probably setting your sights towards £6m or £7m. So, Forest are going for above the benchmark there.
      “The risk is that the longer you go without naming a sponsor, the more likely it could backfire.

      “Sponsors want to be involved in every game and we are nearly at the start of the season now.
      “If it does come off, fantastic. It would put them among the biggest deals in the Premier League. But there is a risk we can’t ignore with this strategy.”
      But according to Simon Chadwick, Global Professor of Sport at Emlyon Business School, more clubs could follow Forest’s approach in the near future.
      He told The Athletic: “Many American investors believe Premier League football clubs are underselling themselves and their sponsorship assets are worth far more money than they’re currently asking for.” More

      What is the F1 halo and how does it save lives?

      THE HALO cockpit has been part and parcel of F1 for the last few seasons – for good reason.It helped save Lewis Hamilton from serious injury after he crashed out of the Italian Grand Prix last year.

      And it appears to have saved Zhou Guanyu’s life after he crashed during the start of the British Grand Prix in 2022.
      What is the halo cockpit system?
      Safety is paramount in Formula One and sadly down the years, some haven’t been as lucky as Roman Grosjean at the Bahrain GP last year.
      Jules Bianchi was killed after a crash at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, losing control of his Marussia in treacherous conditions.
      And his mother was quick to point out that the halo – which wasn’t a feature of the cars six years ago but was being worked on by the FIA – had ‘saved Romain’s life’.
      The halo was introduced back in 2018 and is an added safety feature now included on all F1 cars, acting as a titanium ring of protection around the driver’s cockpit.

      It is designed to prevent drivers from getting injuries from flying debris or suffering head trauma like in the tragic case of Bianchi.
      The F1 governing body took a long time to research and test the design, which does slightly impact the field of view for drivers.
      When it was launched there was also criticism from some fans, who believed the hefty new structure around the cockpit meant they couldn’t see the racers properly.
      World champion Lewis Hamilton revealed back in 2018 that he felt it could be the first step towards a closed cockpit around the driver, but that hasn’t yet come to fruition.
      He said: “I think we’re moving towards a closed cockpit, I think that would look better, there’s some really great concepts online of a closed cockpit.
      “It’s a difficult one as when they introduced it, talked about it, they mentioned a 17 per cent improvement in safety and it’s difficult to really ignore that.
      “It definitely doesn’t look good, we know that, we’ve said that.”

      How did the halo save Grosjean in his Bahrain crash?
      Grosjean’s car snapped clean in half at the force of the crash, with the impact measured at a scarcely-believable 53G.
      Despite the fireball that consumed the wreckage of his vehicle, Grosjean was saved from major burns by his four layers of protective clothing and was able to jump to safety.
      The sturdily-built halo is designed to take the full force of impact first, protecting the drivers’ head from serious injury.

      In this case, it appears to have worked with Grosjean suffering just minor burns to his hands and miraculously avoiding serious trauma to either his body or head.
      Ross Brawn, F1 managing director, was adamant after the race that without the halo we could have been looking at another tragedy.
      He said: “There is absolutely no doubt the halo was the factor that saved the day – and saved Romain.”
      And world champ Hamilton said after winning the race in Sakhir: “It was such a shocking image to see.
      “His car, the cockpit, I don’t know what Gs he pulled, but I’m just so grateful that the halo worked.
      “I’m grateful the barrier didn’t slice his head off. It could have been so much worse.”
      Grosjean was immediately air-lifted to the hospital after the crash and praised the F1 safety system for saving his life.
      He said: “I wasn’t for the halo some years ago, but I think it’s the greatest thing that we brought to Formula 1 and without it, I wouldn’t be able to speak to you today.” More
