Who is Amanda Serrano and what is her boxing record?

Amanda Serrano was born on October 9, 1988, in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

She moved with her family to Brooklyn, New York, when she was young, along with her sister Cindy, who she followed into boxing.

Amanda is a professional boxer, mixed martial artist (MMA) and wrestler.

She is the undisputed featherweight world champion, having held the WBO title since 2019, the WBC and IBO titles since 2021, and the WBA title since 2023.

She is the only female, and Puerto Rican, to win world titles in more than four weight classes.

Amanda, who has the nickname The Real Deal, holds the Guinness World Record for the most boxing world championships won in different weight-classes by a female.

She has won the Female Boxer of the Year Award twice (2016 and 2018) by the WBO, which also granted her the first Super World Championship awarded to a woman.

The southpaw – left-handed fighter – has had 47 bouts, including 44 wins, two losses, and one draw in a split decision.

She has won two MMA bouts by submission and has perfect 5-0 record in no-GI grappling (Jiu-Jitsu).

On August 2, 2023, she announced on The MMA Hour that she has signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League.

What happened when Amanda Serrano fought Katie Taylor?

Serrano vs Taylor was the first women’s boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden.

It was held on April 30, 2022, and described as the “biggest women’s fight of all time”.

Taylor defeated Serrano by split decision in what was named Fight of the Year by Sports Illustrated.

A rematch was scheduled to go ahead on May 20, 2023, in Dublin however Amanda was forced out of the fight due to injury.

She has since said that she thinks the rematch will not be rearranged.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, Amanda said: “Maybe [it will only be] delayed if she comes out on top, beating Cameron, which I don’t think that will happen.

“I just hope that Katie does the right thing and she wins.”
