Prior to this week, his profile page on the site contained no information regarding the 2022-23 campaign, leading many fans to believe he was set for a move away.

However, he has now been granted the No.35 shirt.

Gilmour has also travelled to Southampton with the Blues ahead of the Premier League clash.

He will likely be named in Tuchel’s squad with N’Golo Kante, Matteo Kovacic and Reece James all unavailable due to injury.

Despite his sudden presence in the team, the midfielder’s future at Stamford Bridge is still up in the air.

According to The Athletic, Brighton are interested in signing him.

Graham Potter is eager to secure his services, with club chiefs exploring the possibility of a move.

Brighton have already signed Blues defender Levi Colwill on loan, so they will have to negotiate a permanent transfer in order to complete a deal for the midfielder.
